The 44th edition of the Winmau World Masters was held from 25-27 September at the Royal Spa in Bridlington.
History would be made in the north of England because for the first time in history it is not an English or Dutch native speaking player who wins the tournament. Polish ace Krzysztof Ratajski surprisingly wins the tournament, but does so convincingly.
After the floor matches he reaches the last 32, where the seeded players enter the tournament. He subsequently eliminates Dutchman Richard Veenstra and Shot Alan Soutar. In the quarterfinals, title defender Glen Durrant also goes down to the Polish Eagle. In the semi-final he wins without losing a set to Cameron Menzies and in the final, Mark McGeeney is set aside 6-1. For McGeeney this is his second defeat in a row in the final.
