The 46th edition of the Winmau World Masters was held from 25 to 27 October at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet. The Irishman John O’Shea caused a big surprise by claiming the title. In the final he managed to deal with Scott Waites. The most remarkable news in 2019 is that Winmau disappears as title sponsor and L-Style and One80 take over.
After victories over Milan Slama, David Evans, Jacques Labre, Justin Hood and Willem Mandigers, O'Shea won 4-1 in the quarterfinals against Neil Duff. In the semi-finals he plays against the Belgian Mario Vandenbogaerde. O’Shea plays a great game and beats his opponent 5-1. In the final against Scott Waites, who early beats Nick Fulwell, Paul Hogan and Michael Warburton, O’Shea took his first major television title thanks to a 6-4 victory.
Title holder Adam Smith-Neale already loses during his first match (last 128) against Hannes Schnier. Two Dutchmen managed to reach the last sixteen. In addition to Mandigers, Roemer Mooijman also reaches the fifth round. Mooijman is beaten 3-1 by Ciaran Teehan. Former Lakeside finalist Jeff Smith also loses in this round: Mario Vandenbogaerde is too strong for "The Silencer" (3-2).
