In 1998 the Winmau World Masters moves to a new location. New to the Masters, but not in the world of darts. The Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green is the new location, known for years because of the Embassy, the BDO World Championships.
Les Wallace feels brilliant on the stage, where he became a world champion in 1997 already. In 1998 he adds the World Masters title to his prize list. He became the ninth player to win both titles. In the final he beats Alan Warriner, who plays the World Masters as a PDC-player.
In the semis, Les Wallace defeated Martin Adams and Alan Warriner sent Marshall James home.
