In 1988 Bob Anderson becomes the first player to win the World Masters title three times in a row. For the second year he defeats John Lowe in the final. Earlier this year he claimed the world title as well, so Anderson is the undisputable number one in the darting world.
This tournament sees some players reach late stages who will dominate the sport in the years to come. Peter Evison reaches the semi-finals; Ronnie Baxter loses in the quarterfinals and Russell Stewart defeats a certain Phil Taylor in the last 16.
