From the 22nd till the 24th of October, the World Masters are being held in Bridlington. Mervyn King has been a top player for ten years, but takes his first great title in 2004. In the final he defeats another player with problems winning finals: Tony O’Shea.
For the second year in a row, the final needs a thirteenth and deciding set to proclaim a winner. Only top players compete in the semi finals. O’Shea beats Ted Hankey and King wins against Australians Tony David. Number one of the world Raymond van Barneveld loses surprisingly to Rick Hofstra in the last 16.
