George Noble

Another great example of how the best referees get there first chance by accident. Noble also made his first steps on stage after the regular county caller called in sick in 1992. George’s talent was obviously from the start because after merely two years he already made it to the biggest darts stage in the World; Lakeside. If we keep the comparison of great referees going, Noble also started his exhibition work with Bobby George. Since then, he has worked with all the great names of past and present.

George Noble is regarded by many as the best tournament referee in the World; he very rarely makes a mistake on stage and has a very clear voice. Noble has been in every BDO World Championship final at Lakeside between 1995 and 2007.

In 2007 he switched to the PDC where he finally gets his first televised nine-dart leg at the Ally Pally when Raymond van Barneveld hits it vs Jelle Klaasen in 2009. George had to wait long for his first one but has done many since. In the final of the 2010 Premier League George became the first referee to do two nine dart legs in one match when Phil Taylor completed this work of art against James Wade.
