International Darts Open

In 2012 the PDC launches the Euro Tour. On the European continent, the Pro Tour tournaments disappear and the tournaments are played on big stages with big audiences in the venue.

The International Darts Open is on the calendar from the fourth year and has since been played in the Sachsenarena in Riesa.

Michael Smith claimed the first edition; Mensur Suljovic won his first Euro Tour in Riesa a year later. In 2017 it’s Snakebite Peter Wright who brings home the title. In the fourth year it is again another name on the trophy when Welshman Gerwyn Price wins his first EuroTour. He also becomes the first player to successfully defend this title one year later. Kim Huybrechts is the only other player to reach the final twice but remains empty handed. Joe Cullen is the best in 2020 when he beats Michael van Gerwen in the final. The International Darts Open remains one of the few EuroTour tournaments MVG has never won.

A nine-darter has so far never been hit during the International Darts Open.
