From March 31 to April 2, the eighth edition of the International Darts Open was held in the Sachsen Arena in Riesa. It was the one hundredth EuroTour tournament in total. The final was appropriately between the two winners of the most tournaments: Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price. In the end, 'The Iceman' took the title: his fourth in Riesa.

Price starts the tournament in the second round with a 6-3 victory over European champion Ross Smith. One round later he needs a deciding leg against the Belgian Mike de Decker (6-5). Rob Cross awaits in the quarterfinals. It will be Price's only game this tournament without a 100+ average, but he beats 'Voltage' 6-4.

A battle with Dirk van Duijvenbode awaits 'The Iceman' in the semi-finals. During the previous EuroTour tournament this was the final and just like then it is Price who manages to win the match, this time 7-2. The man from Wales then awaits a final with Michael van Gerwen, who successively beats Matt Campbell (6-5), Jose de Sousa (6-1), Peter Wright (6-0) and Martin Schindler (7-4).

The final of the hundredth EuroTour tournament will then be between Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen. Remarkably enough, it is only the first time that the two gentlemen face each other in a EuroTour final. It will be Price's day: he wins 8-4 and thus wins the tournament in Riesa for the fourth time. Van Gerwen will have to wait at least another year for his first title at the International Darts Open.
