In 2015 Michael Smith is crowned the first International Darts Open Champion. He defeats Dutch youngster Benito van de Pas in the final. For Van de Pas it’s his first EuroTour final. Van de Pas defeats Michael van Gerwen in the last 16, which is Van Gerwen’s first time loss on the EuroTour in 2015 after four straight tournament wins in a row.

For Michael Smith is his second victory on the EuroTour after he was already the best in 2014 in Leipzig during the European Darts Trophy. East Germany seems to suit Smith very well.
