The Grand Slam of Darts 2015 was held from November 7 till 15 at the Civic Centre in Wolverhampton. Michael van Gerwen would win the tournament for the first time in his career and thus complete his career slam.

For the first time in history, the Grand Slam of Darts also counts towards the PDC Order of Merit in 2015. The finalists of the big TV tournaments from the past year are invited, together with winners of the Euro Tour tournaments and Players Championships. In addition, eight BDO players are invited and there are spots for eight qualifiers from the PDC.

On behalf of the BDO Martin Adams and Andy Fordham participate for the first time. Fordham is one of the qualifiers and is greeted as a king on stage in Wolverhampton. Adams had declined the invitation for years, but is present this year and the only BDO player who gets past the first round. In round two, the Belgian Kim Huybrechts is too strong for Wolfie in a deciding leg.

In the semi-finals Van Gerwen beats Michael Smith, who reaches the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time in his career. Phil Taylor wins the other semi-final by beating his eternal rival Raymond van Barneveld. In a thrilling finale, Taylor takes a 7-3 lead, but then misses doubles to pull further ahead. Van Gerwen wins six legs in a row and from that moment the Dutchman is in charge of the match. Eventually he wins 16-13.

For the first time since 1995 Phil Taylor now has no major titles in his hands. Van Gerwen, with this victory, now has won all major PDC tournaments at least once and, after Taylor, becomes the second player who accomplishes this feat. Dave Chisnall throws his first nine-darter on TV in his group match against Peter Wright, the third nine-darter in the history of the Grand Slam of Darts.
