For the fourth year the Rainbow Suite is the venue where the best dart players in the world compete against each other. The tournament in 1985 is being held at the 6th and 7th of December.
At the end of the tournament, Dave Whitcombe wins the cup for the second time in his career. He defeats the surprising Northern-Irish ace Ray Farrell in the final. Earlier in the tournament a large amount of top players were eliminated. Eric Bristow does not survive the last 16, losing to Australian Russell Stewart. Players like Cliff Lazarenko, Keith Deller and Bobby George have to leave the tournament early as well.
