The Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship 2016 was held from January 2 till 9 at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green. Sixteen ladies toed the oche, with Lisa Ashton being the two-time defending champion.
Ashton would lose her title after two successful years. In the quarterfinals she lost to Trina Gulliver who would claim the title for herself. In the final, The Golden Girl defeated Deta Hedman, who reached the final for the third time, but also left empty handed for the third time.
For Trina Gulliver it was her tenth World Championship title, the most surprising so far.
