In 2005 Trina Gulliver proved again that she was the absolute best. For the second consecutive year she did not lose a set in the entire tournament, claiming victory against Francis Hoenselaar in the final.
Because of the absence of Mieke de Boer, two Dutch players competed at the Embassy in 2005. Hoenselaar played the final against Gulliver and defeated Karin Krappen in the first round. Hoenselaar beat Jan Robbins from Wales in the semi final 2-0, whilst Gulliver defeated Anne Kirk in the quarterfinal and ended the hopes of Crissy Manley in the semi final.
