Trina Gulliver lost a set at the Ladies World Championships in 2007, the first set she dropped since the 2003 quarterfinals. This did not mean that the Golden Girl gave her world title away. For the seventh year in a row Gulliver won the final and for the fifth time she defeated Francis Hoenselaar in the final (2-1).
Anastasia Dobromyslova made her debut at the 2007 edition. The Russian reached the semi final right away. She lost to Gulliver, but it was the start of a successful period for her at the Lakeside. For the first time since 2004 three Dutch ladies competed at the World Championships. Next to Hoenselaar and Karin Krappen (who lost in the first round), Carla Molema played her first World Championship. She lost her first match 2-0 to Gulliver.
