The Ladies World Championships are being held for the first time in 2001 at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green. Four players competed for the first official Ladies World Championship title and Trina Gulliver managed to claim this title.
Gulliver impressed in the semi-finals by averaging almost 95 and beating Crissy Manley 2-0, after which she defeated qualifier Mandy Solomons in a tight final. Solomons surprisingly denied Francis Hoenselaar, the number two seed, access to the final.
