The Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship of 2018 was held from 6 to 13 January at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green. Sixteen ladies battle for the title, but for the fourth time in five years Lisa Ashton is the best.
The defending champion Lisa Ashton never really gets into trouble this year. She reaches the final without dropping a set against Rhian Griffiths, Fallon Sherrock and Deta Hedman. In the final Russin triple World Champion Anastasia Dbromyslova is her opponent. The Russian also has not lost a set in the Championship against Anca Zijlstra, Lorraine Winstanley and Trina Gulliver. The first set goes to Dobromyslova 3-0, but from that moment on Ashton dictates. She wins nine of the last ten legs and takes her fourth World Championship title.
With the win Ashton also takes revenge for the lost final against Dobromyslova in 2013. It is the first time that the in England living Russian loses a World Championship final. For now she stays on three titles.
