On 7 and 8 December 1990, the ninth edition of the World Masters for the ladies was held. Rhian Speed is the third lady from Wales to win the Winmau World Masters, after Ann-Marie Davies (1982) and Ann Thomas (1987).

Speed beats a lady in the final that we will encounter more often in the next decades; Deta Hedman. The winner of the last two editions, Mandy Solomons gets knocked out in the semi-finals this year.
