The thirteenth edition of the Players Championship Finals is held from 27 to 29 November. Due to the Coronavirus the tournament is played in the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. ITV Sport does broadcast the event, but the fans are not allowed to attend the matches. The top 64 of the 2020 ProTour Order of Merit is qualified for this tournament.

Michael van Gerwen crowns himself Players Championship Finals champion for the sixth time. The number one of the world defeats Mervyn King in a stunning final. The Englishman shows his class in the final and produces three 100+ finishes. Van Gerwen produces four 100+ finishes, including a 160 checkout. A deciding leg is required to point out a winner. MVG is the first player to hit the double and wins: 11-10.

Van Gerwen starts his campaign with an easy win against Darius Labanauskas. The Dutch ace faces Jonny Clayton (6-4) and compatriot Jeffrey de Zwaan (10-7) on Saturday. MVG shows his class in the quarterfinal against Dirk van Duijvenbode. The three-time world champion averages 110 and sends Van Duijvenbode packing. Van Gerwen defeats Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals. The Iceman leads 8-6, but Van Gerwen manages to win five legs on the spin to win 11-8.

Englishman Mervyn King starts with a win against Dave Chisnall: 6-3. The veteran defeats Dutchman Danny Noppert (6-1) and the Czech Karel Sedlacek (10-5) without too much effort on Saturday. King faces Damon Heta in the quarterfinal. Heta leads 7-2 halfway, but the Englishman battles back and manages to equal the score: 8-8. The King produces a 104 checkout to take the leg of his opponent and secures a 10-8 victory. The veteran meets world champion Peter Wright in the semi-final. The Scotsman does not feel fell and is not able to produce some proper darts. King beats Wright 11-4.
