The twelfth edition of the Players Championship Finals takes place from 22 to 24 November at the Butlin’s Resort in Minehead. After an exciting final it is Michael van Gerwen who wins the tournament for the fifth time in his career.
Van Gerwen plays a strong tournament before he reaches the final in Minehead. In the first round, he eliminates Luke Humphries with convincing figures (6-3) and one round later Van Gerwen puts Adrian Lewis aside with an outstanding nine-darter. Neither James Wade or Ian White can stop MVG either.
Gerwyn Price, who faces Van Gerwen in the final, also plays a very strong Players Championship Finals. ‘The Iceman’ only plays a difficult match against Chris Dobey in the semi-finals but after an 11-8 win the Welshman makes it to the final.
In the grand finale the two players compete for the prestigious trophy and give the audience an exciting show. After a long and upward battle, it is the Dutchman who was 8-7 down before making his decisive move. After an impressive rush the Dutchmen claims four legs in a row which secures his victory in the Players Championship Finals.
