From October 17th to 19th, the thirteenth edition of the German Darts Championship was held in Hildesheim, Germany. At the end of an intense weekend, Englishman Nathan Aspinall was crowned champion after defeating Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode 8–6 in the final.
Aspinall began his campaign with a 6–3 victory over Germany’s Maximilian Czerwinski, followed by a strong performance in the second round where he overcame Ross Smith. In the third round, he recorded a convincing 6–2 win over Steve Lennon. The quarterfinals saw him defeat Jermaine Wattimena 6–4, before edging out Gian van Veen 7–6 in a thrilling semi-final to reach his third European Tour final of the year.
Dirk van Duijvenbode also enjoyed an impressive run to the final. The Dutchman started in spectacular fashion, hitting a nine-darter in his opening round match against Karel Sedláček, which he won 6–4. In the second round he faced Chris Dobey, claiming a solid 6–2 victory. He then defeated Martin Schindler in a dramatic 6–5 third-round clash. In the quarterfinals, Van Duijvenbode knocked out the defending champion Peter Wright 6–5, before powering past Krzysztof Ratajski 7–3 in the semi-finals.
In the final, Van Duijvenbode initially gained momentum by levelling the score at 2–2, but Aspinall responded with three consecutive legs to move 6–2 ahead, finishing one of them with a brilliant 121 checkout. The Dutchman fought back impressively to make it 6–6, but Aspinall kept his composure, winning the next leg with a 13-darter and sealing the title on double 20.
With this victory, Nathan Aspinall claimed his third European Tour title of 2025. The Englishman added this success to his earlier triumphs at the European Darts Trophy and the European Darts Open.
