In the fourth year of the Euro Tour there are nine tournaments in the series. Gibraltar, the Netherlands and Austria have one stop and Germany is visited six times. The format continues to be the same as last year, played on one stage with 48 players in the main draw of the tournament. In the first round 32 qualifiers play against each other. Twenty from Britain and the rest of the world, eight from mainland Europe and four from the organizing country. In the second round the top 16 players from the Players Championship Order of Merit enter the tournament.
Michael van Gerwen wins the fourth edition of the German Darts Championship. The Dutchman is in fantastic form and brushes aside Jelle Klaasen, Stephen Bunting, Joe Murnan and Mensur Suljovic on his way to the final. In the final Van Gerwen plays against Gary Anderson. They are the numbers one and two of the seeding list and they would provide a spectacular final. After for legs the match is still level at 2-2, but then the Dutchman switches to a higher gear. With a 151 and a 167 finish he takes the lead 4-2 and would never look back. The last four legs go in 12, 12, 10 and 12 darts. With an average of 117.94 Van Gerwen shows that this weekend he is the strongest.
