The seventh edition of the German Darts Championship was held from 31 August to 2 September at Halle 39 in Hildesheim. Michael van Gerwen becomes the first player to win this tournament twice. He beats the surprising James Wilson 8-6 in the final.

Van Gerwen plays a very strong tournament. He loses only one leg in his first four games against Cristo Reyes, Martin Schindler, Dave Chisnall and Joe Cullen. In the final Van Gerwen also quickly gains a 5-1 lead and although Wilson continues to offer good resistance, he does not get any further than 6-8.

For James Wilson, this is his best EuroTour tournament ever. He defeats Jermaine Wattimena, Jonny Clayton both in an eleventh and decisive leg. Then Robert Thornton, Ron Meulenkamp and Mensur Suljovic are also beat.

For Michael van Gerwen this is already his seventh EuroTour title of 2018, his 27th in total.
