On 5 and 6 November, the second edition of the World Series Finals was held at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow. Defending champion Michael van Gerwen would retain his title by defeating Peter Wright for the second year in a row in a thrilling finale.
Van Gerwen needs a deciding leg in his first game against Gerwyn Price but in his next two matches he is simply fantastic brushing aside Simon Whitlock (10-0) and Dave Chisnall (11-3). Peter Wright, in turn, wins convincingly against Daryl Gurney and Joe Cullen, but needed luck on his side in the semi-final. Phil Taylor misses seven match darts to beat Wright. Wright does not miss and reaches the final.
The final stays balanced until 4-4, and then Van Gerwen pulls clear to 10-6, but then struggles to finish it. The Dutch number one in the world misses nine darts match, but at the tenth attempt it is hit. Van Gerwen retains his title and remains almost unbeatable in 2016.
