The fourth edition of the World Cup of Darts was played from June 6 till 8, 2014 in the Hamburg Sporthalle. The tournament was extended to 32 teams. The two best payers from the 32 top nations played as a pair for this title. The format was changed for the fourth year in a row as well. In the first round the teams played as pairs over 501 b.o. 9 legs. From the second onwards each team played two singles and a pairs match if necessary. The finale was played over four singles and a pairs match.

The Dutch pair of Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld claimed the title this year.  They beat the defending champions from England convincingly in the final. Van Gerwen defeated both Lewis and Taylor and Van Barneveld also beat Lewis for a 3-0 victory. Team Netherlands defeated Italy first en route to the finals, then Spain, Belgium and Northern Ireland. In those last two matches a pairs match was needed to win, but they won both convincingly with 4-0. Against the Northern Irish even with a record average of 117.88.

England defeated Thailand in the first round and also USA, South Africa and Australia on their way to the final, although all wins didn’t come easy. After this fourth edition, The World Cup title now has been won twice by both The Netherlands and England
