The twelfth edition of the European Darts Open was held at the Ostermann Arena in Leverkusen from June 30th to July 1st. The top darts players were in attendance in Leverkusen, including defending champion Dave Chisnall.
Half of the seeded players lose their first match, including defending champion Dave Chisnall. He was also the highest-ranked player to leave the field. Among others, Gary Anderson (9) lost to Wessel Nijman, and Danny Noppert (10) lost to Ritchie Edhouse.
Nathan Aspinall begins the tournament in the second round against Englishman Bradley Brooks, whom he defeats 6-4. In the last 16, he defeats Ricardo Pietreczko 6-3. In the quarterfinals, he defeats Chris Dobey 6-5, and in the semifinals, The Asp defeats Wessel Nijman to qualify for the final.
In the final, he faces Australian Damon Heta. The Heat also started the tournament in the second round, reaching the final after defeating Mickey Mansell (6-2), Andreas Harrysson (6-4), Matt Campbell (6-5), and Jonny Clayton (7-3).
The Australian plays in an epic final, hitting his first five doubles but misses two darts, sending the match into a draw in the 15th leg, which gives Aspinall victory.
Legs of 13 and 11 darts gave Aspinall an early lead, before Heta hit 84, 130, and 140 to take back the lead. The Australian also hit 135 as the pair traded legs, before Aspinall capitalized on Heta's misses to regain the lead at 6-5, 7-6. Heta then missed his chance on double 18 to send the final into a deciding leg, and Aspinall returned on double six to complete a stunning triumph.

With seven different players sharing the honour at the previous European Tour events of the year, Aspinall became the first double winner of 2025 to take home the £30,000 top prize.
