The third edition of the European Darts Matchplay was held from 9-11 June in the Insel Parkhalle in Hamburg. It is the sixth EuroTour tournament of 2017. Michael van Gerwen proves the strongest in Germany, beating Mensur Suljovic in the final with 6-3. Title defender James Wade immediately loses in his first match to Kyle Anderson.
On his way to the final Van Gerwen beats John Henderson, Mervyn King, Peter Hudson and Michael Smith. Suljovic needs an eleven and decisive leg against Dirk van Duijvenbode in his first match and then beats Daryl Gurney, Dave Chisnall and Cristo Reyes. For Reyes it is his first semi-final on the EuroTour as he defeats, among others, Peter Wright who had already won three EuroTours in 2017.
For Van Gerwen this is his sixteenth EuroTour title from 21 finals. For Mensur Suljovic, his tally remains on one victory. He has lost three finals now.
