The 1995 Embassy World Professional Darts Championship saw Richie Burnett become the second Welshman to be crowned World Champion after the inaugural winner Leighton Rees. Burnett defeated Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld 6 sets to 3 in the final. Defending champion John Part of Canada lost in the second round to qualifier Paul Williams.
Seven of the eight seeds survived the first round, only the top seed Steve Beaton lost to Dave Askew who got beat a round later by eventual runner-up Raymond van Barneveld from The Netherlands. It was the first time a player from mainland Europe reached the final of the World Professional Darts Championship and also the first time the final was played without an Englishman being in it.
All things considered, this edition of the Embassy tournament was the beginning of the rise of the Dutch darters in Frimley Green.
