About Gibraltar Darts Trophy 2017
Michael Smith wins the fifth edition of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy. In the final he defeats Austrian ace Mensur Suljovic 6-4. The tournament was played from May 12 to May 14 this year in the Victoria Stadium.
Bully Boy certainly does not win the tournament easily, except the final he wins all his matches in an eleventh and decisive leg. Christian Kist, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Rob Cross and Peter Wright all loose in the last leg. The eventual runner-up Suljovic wins on his way to the final against Alan Tabern, Cristo Reyes, Magnus Caris and Daryl Gurney.
A number of big names don’t attend this tournament. Among others, Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis do not travel to the rock of Gibraltar. It's Michael Smith's first title since 2015. It's his fourth EuroTour win, for Suljovic it was his third European final.
