Women's World Matchplay

The World Matchplay has been organised since 1994 by the PDC and it has always been held in probably the most attractive darts venue in the world, the Empress Ballroom in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Always warm or should we say hot, and always filled with enthusiastic crowds. In 2022, the PDC announces that in addition to the Women's Series, it will now also organize a TV tournament for the ladies and this iconic location and name is chosen.

The first edition is won by Fallon Sherrock, she successively beats Katie Sheldon, Lorraine Winstanley and Aileen de Graaf en route to the title. Sherrock is the big pre-tournament favourite, along with Lisa Ashton. Ashton surprisingly loses in the semi-final to Aileen de Graaf who thus qualifies for the final.

In the final Sherrock misses some doubles in the beginning of the match, but as soon as these are in order she wins convincingly 6-3.
