The 2024 US Darts Masters are played in the Hulu Theatre, part of Madison Square Garden in New York, on June 2 and 3. The PDC sends eight players to New York to compete against eight North American players. This year they are Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler, Gerwyn Price, Luke Humphries, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Nathan Aspinall and Peter Wright.
There is one surprise in the first round. Last year's losing finalist, Jeff Smith, manages to knock Michael Smith out of the tournament with clear figures, 6-1. A round later, the Canadian has to acknowledge his superior in Luke Littler. In the other quarterfinals, Rob Ctoss wins against Michael van Gerwen 6-4, Luke Humphries beats Nathan Aspinall in an eleventh and decisive leg and Gerwyn Price easily brushes aside Peter Wright 6-1.
In the semi-finals, Rob Cross takes a 5-0 lead against Luke Humphries, only to see the world champion come back to 5-5. However, the last two legs belong to Voltage again and he is the first to reach the final. In the other semi-final it is Gerwyn Price who seemingly has a comfortable 6-3 lead, only to see Luke Littler fight back all the way to 6-6. In the last leg the 17-year-old even gets a match dart, but that dart on tops narrowly misses. Price then checks from 108 and claims his place in the final.
The scoring in the final is a bit messy with many breaks back and forth. Gerwyn Price takes a 4-2 lead, but then misses three darts to take a 5-2 lead. Cross back to 3-4, but a leg later Price hits a beautiful 164 finish. Both men are tied at 6-6 and 7-7. Price starts the last leg, but it is not the best leg of The Iceman. In six visits he is not finishes and so he lets the victory slip. Rob Cross takes advantage and seals the title on double 18..
It is Cross's fourth World series victory, his first in the USA. For Price the counter remains at 1 title from five finals.
