The 2023 US Darts Masters were played at the Hulu Theater, part of New York's Madison Square Garden on June 2-3. The PDC send eight players to New York to face eight North American players.
Playing on behalf of the PDC are Michael Smith, Peter Wright, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross, Luke Humphries, Dimitri Van den Bergh and Nathan Aspinall. Immediately in the first round, the curtain falls for the numbers 1 and 2 in the world ranking. World champion and defending US Darts Master Michael Smith loses 6-2 to Jim Long. Peter Wright, in turn, loses out to Jeff Smith.
Jeff Smith becomes the man of the tournament. After Wright, he also beats Nathan Aspinall in the quarterfinals 6-2 and in the semi-finals Luke Humphries is his next victim with a 7-6 scoreline. The other semi-final also goes to a decisive thirteenth leg and is won by Michael van Gerwen against Rob Cross.
In the final, the tank is empty for Smith. He never comes back to the level of the previous matches and must watch Van Gerwen bulldozer him 8-0. For the Dutchman, it’s his 18th victory on the World Tour.
