About U.S. Darts Masters 2022
This year's US Darts Masters were played on June 3 and 4 in the Hulu Theatre, part of Madison Square Garden in New York. Michael Smith won the tournament by beating Michael van Gerwen 8-4 in the final.
Of the eight North American players, only Leonard Gates wins his first-round match. He beats Fallon Sherrock 6 legs to 2. Gates is no match for snakebite Peter Wright in the second round, he loses that match 8-3. Michael Smith continues his good form of late, in recent weeks he has won the last night of the Premier League and a EuroTour tournament in the Netherlands. He beats Gary Anderson 8-3 in the quarters and in the semi-finals, he is too strong for Peter Wright 8-6.
Michael van Gerwen effortlessly beats James Wade in his quarterfinal and sees Gerwyn Price beat Jonny Clayton in the last quarterfinal. In the semi-finals, van Gerwen is too strong for Price with 8-4.
In the final Michael van Gerwen leads 3-1 but sees Smith tied at 4-4. From that moment on, Michael Smith takes over the initiative in the match and does not give up a leg. So in the end it becomes 8-4 and Michael Smith wins a World Series tournament for the second time in his career after the 2018 Shanghai Darts Masters.
