From 19 to 27 July 32 players competed in the beautiful Empress Ballroom in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. For the 15th time it would be Phil Taylor who was crowned champion. In this year's final he defeated the world number one; Michael van Gerwen.

After a mediocre first six months of the year it was Taylor who finally showed his top form. Convincing victories over Darren Webster, Michael Smith and Wes Newton brought him into the semi-finals where Gary Anderson played superb. But even an average of 104.41 could not bring the Scot the win. In the final, Taylor was the clear winner with 18-9 .

The Dutchman got to the final for the first time in his career after victories over Steve Beaton, Ian White, Dave Chisnall and Simon Whitlock. The latter also played an excellent tournament including victories over James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld. In the second round Phil Taylor also threw a nine-darter against Michael Smith. For The Power his tenth in a big TV tournament, the first for referee Kirk Bevins in a major.
