On 26 November, the final of the thirteenth edition of the PDC Youth World Championship was played on the stage of the Butlins resort in Minehead between the semi-finals and final of the Players Championship Finals. The final was played by the Englishman Luke Littler and the Dutchman Gian van Veen.
On 20 August, the best 96 youth players in the world gathered in England to compete for a place in the final. The tournament was played in 32 groups of three players, with the number one of the groups going through to the knockout stage. Each group has one seeded player. Of the 32 seeded players, 18 players actually made it to the last 32. The biggest victims in the group phase are third seed Adam Gawlas from the Czechia, number four Lewy Williams and number seven on the seeding list Rusty-Jake Rodriguez.
The defending champion is Josh Rock, who defeated Nathan Girvan in the final last year. Rock reaches the quarter finals again this year, but in an eleventh and deciding leg he has to bow out to Gian van Veen. Wessel Nijman wins in the quarter finals from Owen Bates, but he also loses to Gian van Veen in an eleventh and deciding leg, who thus qualifies for the final.
On the other side of the schedule, Luke Littler wins in the quarterfinals against Jacob Gwynne and Sebastian Bialecki beats the Dutchman Jitse van der Wal. In the semi-final, Luke Littler is too strong for the Polish talent and wins 6-3.
The final is traditionally played on the stage of the Butlins resort in Minehead between the semi-finals and final of the Players Championship Finals. That is more than three months after the preliminary rounds. It is a fantastic final between two players who are playing excellently. But it is the Englishman Luke Littler who proves to be the strongest and is thus crowned PDC youth world champion 2023. He is the eighth world champion from England.
