In 2013 two English players competed against each other in the Youth World Championships final. Ricky Evans and Michael Smith qualified for the final, after which Smith easily defeated Evans 6-1 to claim the title.
Evans reached the final by surprisingly defeating Arron Monk in the semi-final, whilst Smith beat Adam Hunt on his way to his first Youth world title. Reigning and defending champion James Hubbard was eliminated in the first round.
