From 5 to 7 May, the second edition of the Belgian Darts Open was held in Wieze, Belgium. Michael van Gerwen managed to take the title for the first time in Wieze, after a victory in the final against Luke Humphries.

Van Gerwen starts the tournament against Jose de Sousa. After an exciting match, the Dutchman managed to win 6-5. In the next round, 'Mighty Mike' wins with the same numbers against Martin Schindler. Gary Anderson awaits in the quarterfinals. The two-time World Champion throws a disappointing game and sees Van Gerwen take a 6-1 victory. During the semi-finals it is Josh Rock who loses against Van Gerwen: the Dutchman wins 7-3 and is a finalist.

In that final he will compete against Luke Humphries, who has already played several EuroTour finals this year but has not yet won a title. He reached the final after victories against Bradley Brooks (6-5), Andy Baetens (6-5), Nathan Aspinall (6-2) and Dirk van Duijvenbode (7-6). In the final both men throw an average of around 100. In the end, it is Michael van Gerwen who wins 8-6, so that he will win a EuroTour for the first time in 2023. This brings him to 36 EuroTour titles in total.
