The first edition of the Belgian Darts Open was held in Wieze from 23 to 25 September. Dave Chisnall took his third EuroTour title by beating Andrew Gilding in the final. It was Chisnall's first EuroTour title in three years.

Chisnall starts the Belgian Darts Open with a match in the last 32 against Jelle Klaasen. 'Chizzy' manages to deal with the Dutchman 6-2 and moves on to the last 16. In this he meets Nathan Aspinall. Both men are evenly matched, but in the end Chisnall manages to win 6-4. Jose de Sousa awaits in the quarterfinals. On paper a nice match, but unfortunately the averages are a bit disappointing. Chisnall does win, 6-2 and qualifies for the semi-finals. In a match against UK Open winner Danny Noppert, Chisnall averages 103.89 and wins 7-4. The final is then played against Andrew Gilding. Gilding is chasing his first EuroTour title, but it is Chisnall who manages to win 8-6 to win the Belgian Darts Open for the first time.

Gilding cleverly makes it to the final, after 'Goldfinger' beat Simon Whitlock, Dimitri van den Bergh, Niels Zonneveld, Martin Schindler and Jonny Clayton in succession. Dirk van Duijvenbode loses to Jonny Clayton in the last 16, while Michael van Gerwen loses during his first match against 'home player' Kim Huybrechts. Ross Smith beats Steve Beaton in the first round to qualify for the World Grand Prix, at the expense of Rowby-John Rodriguez.
