On the 16th and 17th of August, the Melbourne Arena was the venue for the third edition of the Melbourne Darts Masters.
After almost four months without a tournament victory, Michael van Gerwen could finally cheer again. In the Melbourne Arena Mighty Mike defeated Tim Pusey (6-2), Gary Anderson (8-6), Peter Wright (8-0) and Daryl Gurney (8-3) to crown himself the Melbourne Darts Master 2019.
Last week’s winner of the Brisbane Darts Masters, Damon Heta, reached the quarter final after a 6-1 victory over James Wade. In the quarter final Heta lost to Rob Cross. Notable was the whitewash of Peter Wright by Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final. Snakebite had an average of 82.61 and lost 8-0! Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld won his first-round match against Haupai Puha but lost in the quarterfinal to Peter Wright. Barney hit the highest average of the tournament in his first match, 106.13
