From 2 to 4 September, the second edition of the Hungarian Darts Trophy was played in Budapest. Joe Cullen manages to win a EuroTour tournament for the third time, after he was too strong for William O'Connor in the final (8-2).

The winner of The Masters starts the tournament with a 6-4 victory over Martin Lukeman. A round later, he beats Jim Williams with the same numbers. In the quarterfinals, a duel with Rusty-Jake Rodriguez awaits and again Cullen manages to book a 6-4 victory. In the semi-finals, 'The Rockstar' faces the biggest challenge of this tournament: against Dave Chisnall, a decisive thirteenth leg is needed to reach the final (7-6). In that final, Cullen meets William O'Connor, who surprisingly managed to get through to the final but can't manage to make a fist in the final battle. Cullen wins the final with convincing numbers (8-2) and wins the Hungarian Darts Trophy for the first time.

Michael van Gerwen does not get further than the last 32. In his first match he meets Simon Whitlock, the man against he has already lost several times in a row. It will be an exciting match, but it is 'The Wizard' who wins 6-5. Raymond van Barneveld also loses in this round: a decisive leg is needed to finally bow to Jose de Sousa (6-5). Jeffrey de Zwaan and Dirk van Duijvenbode make it to the last 16, but lose to Jose de Sousa and Josh Rock.
