In 2016, the Euro Tour consists of ten tournaments. Netherlands, Austria and Gibraltar remain on the calendar and no less than seven stops are in Germany.
The fifth edition of the German Darts Masters was held for the second year in a row during Easter weekend at the Bauhaus Forum of the Dolce Hotel in Munich. For the second year in a row the winner is also the same. Michael van Gerwen takes his tenth Euro Tour title, the second in 2016.
Van Gerwen defeats Peter Wright in the final 6-4. The Scot lead 4-2, but then cannot find the triple anymore, giving Van Gerwen the chance to win four legs in a row. On his way to the final Mighty Mike beats Rene Eidams, Kevin Painter, Chris Dobey and Joe Cullen. Especially the last two impress in Munich and put in their best ever performance at the Euro Tour.
Dobey beats Ben Davies in the first round and then brushes Premier League players Robert Thornton and Dave Chisnall aside. Against Van Gerwen, the young Englishman leads 5-4, but two superb legs from the Dutchman prevent Dobey from reaching the semi-finals. Joe Cullen beats Mike Zuydwijk frist and then James Wade, Benito van de Pas and Gary Anderson. In the semi-final against Van Gerwen he cannot produce what he had done before and loses 1-6.
