The fourth edition of the German Darts Masters was to become another triumph for the number one in the world, Michael van Gerwen. The tournament was played at the Bauhaus Forum in the Dolce Hotel in Munich during the Easter weekend.
Mighty Mike hits an average of over 100 in every match and picks up his third Euro Tour tournament in a row. Van Gerwen successively defeats Gary Stone, Jamie Caven, William O'Connor, Peter Wright and in the final the surprising John Henderson from Scotland. Against Caven and Henderson he needs a decisive eleventh leg to win, but in those legs the Dutchman excels this year. After his victory in the German Darts Masters Van Gerwen is the second player in history to break the magic threshold of 1 million pounds in the world rankings. Only Phil Taylor had previously achieved this.
The Scot John Henderson reached his first PDC final, but had to do so via long journey. He had to qualify through the qualifying tournament and then in Munich beat Cristo Reyes, Michael Smith, Andrew Gilding, Brendan Dolan and Adrian Lewis.
