From 13 to 15 March, the Lokhalle in Göttingen, Germany hosted the 2026 European Darts Trophy, the second event on this year’s European Tour.
The weekend in Göttingen delivered several notable results, including the early exit of Michael van Gerwen (3), who was defeated by Niels Zonneveld, and Stephen Bunting (5) who loses to Niko Springer.
Nijman produced consistent performances throughout the weekend on his way to his maiden European Tour title. The Dutchman began his campaign in the first round and progressed to the last 16, where he delivered one of the standout performances of the tournament, defeating Gian van Veen 6–1 with an average of 112.87. In the quarter-finals, he beat Josh Rock 6–2, before dominating Niels Zonneveld 7–1 in the semi-finals to reach the final.
Gerwyn Price, meanwhile, start his run in the second round. The Welshman came through matches against Joe Cullen (6-2), Danny Noppert (6–5) and Dirk van Duijvenbode (6–3) to reach the semi-finals. There, he defeated Damon Heta 7–5 to book his place in the final.
The final began evenly, but once Nijman found his rhythm, he took control of the match. The Dutchman pulled away from Price and secured an 8–3 victory, producing a composed display to seal the title.
With this win, Wessel Nijman claimed his first European Tour title, becoming the latest new winner on the circuit. Gerwyn Price, despite the defeat, showed solid form throughout the tournament and reached another European Tour final. As the European Tour continues, Nijman’s breakthrough victory marks him as one of the players to watch for the remainder of the 2026 season.
