The fourth edition of the European Darts Trophy is played between 9 and 11 September, played for the second consecutive year in Mülheim am Ruhr in Germany. This year gets a great final that goes to the final leg. In it Michael van Gerwen is stronger than his opponent; Austrian ace Mensur Suljovic.

No less than seventeen matches, including the final, go to an eleventh and deciding leg in what would be a stunning darts weekend. Jelle Klaasen showes in his first match to be in top form. He breaks the tournament record with an average of 111.23 against compatriot Vincent van der Voort and wins with 6-1. Kim Huybrechts (106.09) and Michael Smith (100.20) are also above the 100 mark and win.

The record of Klaasen would not stand long. In the quarterfinals, Michael van Gerwen is quick to break it against none other then Klaasen. The new record will stands at 115.13. Van Gerwen wins the match of his compatriot 6-2, Klaasen comes to an average of over 107 in a brilliant match.

In the semi-finals Van Gerwen wins in the eleventh and decisive leg against Kim Huybrechts and in the final there is also a final leg to necessary to bring Suljovic to his knees. Van Gerwen wins his fifth Euro Tour title in 2016, his thirteenth in total.
