The eighth edition of the Dutch Darts Masters was held in the IJsselhallen in Zwolle from 24 to 26 May. Michael van Gerwen has to give up the title after five consecutive victories. In an exciting final it is Ian White who beats the Dutchman in an all-deciding leg.
White survives five match darts by Micky Mansell in his first round, but after that The Diamond reaches the final without any big problems. Jermaine Wattimena, Vincent van der Voort and Peter Wright are well beaten. Van Gerwen in turn beats William O’Connor, Raymond van Barneveld, Dave Chisnall and Gerwyn Price.
White takes an early 4-1 lead in the final, but sees Van Gerwen coming back to 4-4. Next, White takes another break lead at 6-4, but again Van Gerwen comes alongside. At 7-7 it is White who throws the best leg and thus puts an end to the dominance of the Dutchman after five years.
It is for Ian White his third EuroTour victory in his career, the second already in 2019. With this victory he also makes it to the final for the fourth EuroTour tournament in a row, an achievement that only Van Gerwen has accomplished earlier.
