In 2012 the PDC launches the Euro Tour. On the European continent, the Pro Tour tournaments disappear and the tournaments are played on big stages with big audiences in the venue.
In the second year there are eight tournaments in the series. England, Gibraltar, The Netherlands and Austria each get one stop and Germany is visited four times. Sixty-four players compete in the first round on two stages. From the second round the tournament continues on one stage.
The Dutch Darts Masters 2013 was played from 25 to 27 October in Veldhoven. The tournament moved this year from Nuland. The thirteenth Euro Tour event in history gets its eleventh different winner. The Belgian Kim Huybrechts first immerses the home crowd into mourning when he defeats Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals, but the audience support him massively in the final. The Northern Irishman Brendan Dolan also plays an excellent tournament, including victories over Gary Anderson and Simon Whitlock, but comes up short in the final against Huybrechts who wins 6-3.
