The Dutch Darts Championship was held in Rosmalen, The Netherlands from 24-26 May. It was the 7th EuroTour in 2024. Norther Irishman Josh Rock wins his first big PDC title, after winning against Jonny Clayton in the final.
Rock starts the tournament in the second round against Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode. He beats him 6-3, with an exceptional average of 104,83. In the next round he is up against Scotsman Cameron Menzies, who he sends home after an exciting match ending in 6-5. In the quarter finals it’s Welshman Gerwyn Price that leaves the tournament after a 6-3 loss. The semi-finals see German Martin Schindler exit the stage with 7-3.
Josh Rock places himself for the final battle against Jonny Clayton. He too starts the tournament in the second round. The Ferret reaches the final after winning against Marvin van Velzen (6-4), Dave Chisnall (6-3), Ryan Searle (5-2) and Michael van Gerwen (7-6).
Rock starts off strong in the final, immediately getting ahead 2-0. Clayton manages to take a leg, and the men stay equal until Clayton wins a leg for 3-3. The Welshman manages to take another leg after that, but Josh Rock is too strong and wins the final 8-4. He secures his first ever victory on the big stage, after having played 25 EuroTours.
Josh Rock had only ever played one other EuroTour final but lost against the very same Jonny Clayton during the 2023 Austrian Darts Open. Both men threw an impressive average of 100+.
