The Dutch Darts Championship was held in Leeuwarden from 28 to 30 April. Dave Chisnall was crowned winner for the first time after beating Luke Humphries in the final.
'Chizzy' starts the tournament with a victory over Martin Lukeman (6-4). In the last sixteen he beats Josh Rock in a good game: 6-3. In the quarterfinals he plays against Peter Wright. The two-time world champion has no chance against Chisnall, who wins the match 6-1. Chisnall will meet Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals. The Dutchman seems to be the favorite in front of his home crowd, but Chisnall remains cool and eventually wins 7-6.
The other finalist Luke Humphries successively defeats Ross Smith (6-3), Andrew Gilding (6-4), Danny Noppert (6-5) and Damon Heta (7-3) in the semifinals. The final between Chisnall and Humphries is one in which the man in yellow clearly beats the man in blue. In the end it will be an 8-5 victory for Chisnall, who will take his first EuroTour victory of 2023.
