The fourth edition of the BDO World Trophy was held at the Memo Arts Center in Barry on the south coast of Wales from 26 to 29 May 2017. For the fourth consecutive year, a new champion was crowned. Australian Peter Machin plays excellent and surprises the entire world’s best BDO players. Last year he lost the final, this year he defeats Martin Phillips 10-8 in the final.

Earlier in the tournament, he has already defeated Geert de Vos, Scott Mitchell, Martin Adams and Wesley Harms. Phillips, in turn, defeats Carl Dennell, Mark McGeeney, Conan Whitehead and Nick Kenny. Title defender Darryl Fitton loses his first match. Fellow countryman Conan Whitehead is too strong for him. Big favourite Glen Durrant loses in the quarterfinals after a 4-0 lead with 4-7 to Wesley Harms.

Peter Machin becomes the fifth Australian who wins a major after Graham Hunt ,Tony David, Paul Nicholson and Simon Whitlock.
