The third edition of the Baltic Sea Darts Open was held in Kiel from July 11th to 13th. It was the ninth EuroTour tournament of the year. Many top players competed in Wieze, including defending champion Rob Cross.
Four of the sixteen seeded players lost their first match, including defending champion Rob Cross, who is seeded sixth this tournament. Stephen Bunting (2) lost to German Niko Springer, Damon Heta (8) lost to Wessel Nijman, and Dave Chisnall (10) lost to Daryl Gurney.
Gerwyn Price begins the tournament in the second round against Irishman William O’Connor, whom he defeats (6-1). In the last 16, he defeats Wessel Nijman (6-5). In the quarterfinals, he beats Luke Humphries (6-3), and in the semifinals, he defeats Chris Dobey (7-3) to qualify for the final.
In this final, he faces Gary Anderson. The Flying Scotsman also starts the tournament in the second round, and reaches the final after defeating Krzysztof Ratajski (6-2), Andy Baetens (6-3), Jonny Clayton (6-1), and James Wade (7-1).
Anderson – aided by a clinical 90 kill on the bull – led 2-1 in Sunday’s showpiece, but a brutal sequence of six straight legs from Price took him to the brink of an emphatic victory. Anderson landed another brilliant bull finish to stop the rot, converting a 125 skin-saver in leg ten to preserve his slender hopes, only for Price to wrap up proceedings via double 12 moments later.
Price – a winner at last weekend’s Poland Darts Masters – continued his terrific form at the Wunderino Arena to clinch his fourth ranking title of the campaign. The Welshman was without a European Tour title since his International Darts Open success in April 2023, but he produced a string of dominant displays in Kiel to add another title to his illustrious haul.
