The second edition of the Baltic Sea Darts Open was held in Kiel from 10 to 12 May. It’s the 6th EuroTour of the year. Englishman Rob Cross takes home the prize after beating Luke Humphries, who did manage to throw a 9-darter in the final.
Cross starts the tournament in the second round against Dutchman Maik Kuivenhoven. He beats him 6-2. In the third round he is up against Englishman Stephen Bunting. It’s an exciting match, but in the end, Cross wins 6-5. The Englishman wins a hard-fought battle in the quarter final against fellow countryman Ritchie Edhouse. In the semi-final it’s Latvian Madars Razma that leaves the field after a 7-4 defeat.
Rob Cross places for the final against fellow Englishman Luke Humphries. Cool Hand Luke also starts the tournament in the second round and reaches the final after beating Sebastian Bialecki (6-1), Ross Smith (6-4) Michael van Gerwen (6-3) and Danny Noppert (7-4).
The final is even up until 2-2. Cross then breaks Humphries for 2-3, but Humphries immediately takes it back to 3-3. Humphries then gains a lot of traction and also takes the next 2 legs to get ahead 5-3. The eight leg was the perfect 9-darter! Cross stays calm and comes back to 5-5, after which the men share the next two legs. Once it gets to 6-6, it’s Voltage that takes the final stand and grabs the last to legs for an 8-6 victory.
This is only the second EuroTour win for Cross. The first was in 2023 during the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen. Cross did play a total of 10 EuroTour finals. This was the 12th EuroTour final for Luke Humphries, who by now has lost 6 of the last 8 finals.
